FragPunk

Bad Guitar Studio / NetEase’s free-to-play hero shooter. "Kitchen-sink Counter-Strike" with Shard Cards that modify match rules.

Welcome to the Cosmo strategy hub for FragPunk. Bad Guitar Studio (under NetEase) launched FragPunk in March 2025 as a free-to-play hero shooter that distinguishes itself with the Shard Card system — in-match cards that modify rules, abilities, and battlefield mechanics. PC Gamer described it as "kitchen-sink Counter-Strike" for its layered design. Released March 6, 2025 (PC); April 29, 2025 (PS5, Xbox Series X/S). Currently Season 4 (Colors Burst chapter active). Multiple competitive and casual modes; Lancers (heroes) with unique abilities; deck-building meta-game between rounds. Everything below is vanilla, mechanics-only knowledge.

01 · The Combat Loop

Hero shooter + card-based round modifiers.

  • Round-based tactical shooter Multi-round 5v5 matches. First team to win majority of rounds wins. Round-by-round economy and decisions define matches.
  • Hero-based combat (Lancers) Each player picks one Lancer (hero) per match. Each Lancer has unique abilities, ultimate, and passive bonuses.
  • Shard Cards (the unique mechanic) Between rounds, players draft Shard Cards. Cards modify rules, abilities, weapons, and match mechanics. The deck-building strategic layer.
  • Tactical shooter core Despite Shard Cards, core combat is tactical FPS. Recoil, weapon mastery, positioning matter as much as in Counter-Strike or Valorant.
  • Plant/Defuse objective Standard plant-bomb / defuse-bomb objective in most modes. Attackers plant; defenders defuse or eliminate.
  • Free-to-play with cosmetics F2P model with cosmetic-only monetization. Lancers earned through gameplay; cosmetics purchased.
  • Cross-platform play PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S share servers. Cross-input matchmaking.
