03 · The Module System

Build crafting through modular stats and abilities.

  • Module slots per Descendant Each Descendant has 10 Module slots organized in a grid. Place Modules in the grid; managing slot capacity is the build constraint.
  • Module categories Skill Modules (modify abilities), Stat Modules (raw stat increases), Special Modules (unique effects). Combine types for build identity.
  • Module ranks Modules level up. Higher ranks provide more powerful effects but cost more Module Capacity. Capacity-cost balance defines builds.
  • Capacity management Each Descendant has a Module Capacity limit. Total Module costs cannot exceed capacity. Balance high-impact Modules against capacity headroom.
  • Module Socket types Modules have socket-matching requirements. Modules with matching sockets cost less Capacity; non-matching cost more. Plan socket strategy.
  • Module crafting Combine multiple Modules to craft higher-tier versions. Long-term grind for top-tier Modules.
  • Focused Supervision module (Viessa April 2026) Recent example: Focused Supervision Module duration extended for easier Auto-Reload usage; Skill 4 now deals bonus damage proportional to HP and shield on firearm attacks.

04 · Weapons

Three weapon slots per Descendant.

Weapon ClassExamplesStyle
Assault RiflesHigh-rate-of-fire mid-rangeVersatile workhorse weapons. Foundation of most builds.
Submachine GunsClose-range high-fire-rateEffective at point-blank; ammo-hungry.
Sniper RiflesLong-range one-shot weaponsSlow fire rate; high damage; positioning-dependent.
Tactical RiflesBurst-fire mid-rangeBurst-damage profile; consistent kills at range.
ShotgunsClose-range area weaponsDevastating CQB; useless at range.
Beam RiflesSustained-fire energy weaponsHold trigger for continuous damage; energy weapons.
LaunchersRocket and grenade launchersAoE damage; ideal for grouped enemy clusters.
Ultimate WeaponsTop-tier weapons with unique passive abilitiesEndgame chase items. Build-defining when paired with the right Descendant.

05 · Missions & Story

Main story + side missions + endgame.

The endgame raid encounters.

  • Multiple Colossi types Each Colossi has unique abilities, weak points, and required tactics. Mechanically different fights across the Colossi roster.

  • Phase transitions Colossi shift abilities at HP thresholds. Each phase introduces new attack patterns; learn timing and counter-positioning.
  • Coordinated team play Solo Colossi runs are difficult. Coordinated 4-player teams with mixed roles (Tank, DPS, Support) clear faster.
  • Reactor rewards Defeat Colossi for Reactor drops. Reactors are core equipment for Descendant builds; tier-based progression.
  • Master Climax mission Year 8 endgame raid (introduced with Onslaught beta). Hardest content; specific gear/build requirements.
  • Pre-fight preparation Stockpile consumables, optimize Module setup, coordinate team comp. Colossi reward preparation, not improvisation.

07 · Reactors & Components

The endgame gear pipeline.

  • Reactors (core equipment) Equip a Reactor on each Descendant. Provides skill power, conditional bonuses, and unique effects. Build-defining item.
  • Components (gear sets) Auxiliary Power, Sensor, Memory, Processor. Each Descendant equips one of each component type. Stats add up across component sets.
  • Reactor mod farming Specific Reactors drop from specific encounters. Identify the target Reactor; farm the source encounter; optimize for matching skill power.
  • Substat optimization Reactors and Components have main stats and substats. Substats roll randomly; chase optimal rolls for perfect builds.
  • Mountable substats Sub-stats provide passive bonuses. HP, Defense, Skill Power, Crit Rate, Crit Damage. Match sub-stats to Descendant build.
  • Arche Tuning (reworks) Skill modifier system. Adjusts how individual skills function; April 2026 brought significant Arche Tuning reworks.

  • Discord communities Active Nexon-affiliated and community Discords. Find squad mates; share build guides; coordinate boss runs.

10 · Audio & Settings

Third-person shooter; tune for combat clarity.

  • Headphones for combat audio Vulgus footsteps, ability cues, boss-fight indicators. Quality stereo headphones reveal directional threats.
  • Master volume around 50–60 percent TFD peaks loud during combat. Lower master volume preserves headroom for ambient cues.
  • Field of view 90 Standard for third-person shooters. Adjustable; some players prefer higher for awareness.
  • Mouse sensitivity tuning Mid-range for hybrid action/shooter. Lower than competitive arena shooters; higher than turn-based.
  • Performance tuning TFD is GPU-demanding at high settings. Reduce shadows and effects for stable framerate in chaotic combat.
  • HUD customization Adjust HUD elements: health, ability cooldowns, ammo. Reduce clutter for clean visuals.
  • Verify after every season patch Nexon ships major content updates each season. Five minutes of menu review per patch prevents surprises.

11 · Pro Tips

Compound habits across the long TFD arc.

  • Master one Descendant fully Build one Descendant to peak before expanding. Bunny, Lepic, or Ajax are forgiving entries. Mechanical depth on one beats spreading thin.
  • Optimize Module Capacity Capacity is the limiting factor for top-tier builds. Match Module sockets; rank Modules carefully; don’t overspend Capacity.
  • Watch theorycrafters YouTube creators post per-patch build guides. Two hours per week of high-rank footage saves weeks of misallocated resources.
  • Plan around Colossi for Reactors Each Colossi drops specific Reactors. Identify target Reactor; farm the matching Colossi systematically.
  • Use Onslaught Mode for endgame XP New Onslaught Mode (April 2026 beta) is one of the strongest XP and Module farms. Heavy farming target.
  • Co-op for harder content Solo soloable but slow. Co-op clears 2-3x faster; voice coordination amplifies effectiveness further.
  • Take advantage of events Skin contests, login events, special missions. Engage during event windows for exclusive cosmetics and rewards.
